Is there a deadline to register by?
Early bird pricing ends on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017. This pricing change excludes student-pricing, which will remain at the discounted rates.
What is the cancellation policy?
Prior to Thursday, August 31st, 2017, each bundle or ticket will be 75% refundable. After this deadline, each bundle or ticket becomes non-refundable.
We recommend parking in the Virginia Avenue parking garage as there will be golf carts shuttling attendees at the beginning and end of both days. There is also a metered parking lot located directly behind the MU Student Center that provides free handicap parking.
Please dress comfortably as the MU Student Center has multiple floors and you will be switching locations throughout the day.
Please bring multiple copies of any completed or partially completed work you have. This is essential if you are meeting one-on-one with a mentor or would like to have your work reviewed throughout the day. In addition, we advise you to bring a refillable water bottle as there are many fountains located throughout the Student Center. If you have any food allergies or want to snack between lunch times, we also recommend to bring some extra food and snacks. For networking purposes during the socials, we advise you to bring your business cards or contact information. The Student Center can sometimes vary in temperature, so bring a light sweater if you’re prone to getting cold easily. You will also want a laptop, iPad, notebook, etc to take notes during sessions.
What are the food options for lunch?
Lunch is included with your registration. Vegetarian and Gluten free options will be available as well.
When and where can I purchase books for the book signings?
There will be books available for purchase in the book signing area throughout both days. Most book purchases will take place during free time at lunch or the networking social, however, you are also free to purchase any books or materials during any breaks you may have throughout both days!
Can I register the day of the event?
Yes. You may register the day of the event by bringing cash or check to the sign-in table payable to the “Columbia Chapter of the Missouri Writers’ Guild.” However, you may not receive all ‘Swag Bag’ items as we give our donors an estimated number in advance.
Can I attend the fiction craft of writing session and then switch to the non-fiction editing session later in the day?
Although we encourage you to stick with your track to get the most out of it, we do allow switching of tracks depending on space availability in the designated room. Please arrive early to the track you wish to switch into to see if there is enough space, otherwise we ask you return to your original registered track choice.
Do you accommodate special needs?
Yes, we make sure our facility has total accessibility, and we do whatever is needed to make attending ShowMe Writers Masterclass as convenient as possible for all attendees. There are several elevators located throughout the MU Student Center and we will have volunteers stationed accordingly. If you have a special need, please email firstname.lastname@example.org after you have registered and we will make special arrangements if necessary.
